Call for Proposals

In addition to our more traditional workshops, you may wish to consider offering a "flipped" workshop. The CPD will provide you with a web-based resource to post articles or videos you would like participants to review prior to your workshop so that the session will be more interactive.

Is there something you've done with your students in the last year that you're really proud of? Join your CAIS colleagues and share what you love. This conference is about best practices, lesson plans, projects, etc. that have had a significant impact on your students and your school. These may have included the use of technology, or not ... body, mind, spirit projects ... anything that you feel can and should be shared with your fellow educators.

In a multi-year effort to concentrate our professional development offerings on 21st Century skills, the CAIS Commission on Professional Development (CPD) is seeking proposals for our next full day event on January 29, 2013. Previous programs held since 2009 have won rave reviews from your colleagues. Each event consists of Connecticut teachers hosting 20-minute sessions where they share their best ideas, lesson plans, projects and pedagogical techniques. Presentations also include a subsequent ten minute question and answer period. The question and answer session can also evolve into a continuing dialogue and an opportunity for colleagues to network and make plans for visiting other schools to see innovative curriculum in action. Participants are able to visit several classrooms throughout the day so they can see a variety of teachers and projects. And...as a presenter you, too, will have an opportunity to attend sessions.

Some of the best professional development comes from spending a day with colleagues learning from each other. Ultimately, this program is about "sharing excellence". Won't you join us and submit your proposal?

Below are other examples of collaborative projects to give you an idea of what is possible. Your proposal can discuss your experience with something that’s a defined project such as the NAIS Challenge 20/20 or a project on a smaller scale, like Trout Raising from the lower school at St. Thomas’s Day School. We are eager to consider all collaborative projects that help to define what you think encompasses 21st Century Learning Skills at your school.
